BY-LAWS
ARTICLE XV- ABSENTEE VOTING
Absentee voting for members in good standing will be allowed for:
- Election of Officers
- Modifications of the LMSA Charter
- Modifications of the LMSA By-Laws
- Any item of major significance approved at a monthly business meeting by a majority vote of attending members.
Absentee ballots must be signed and either hand delivered or mailed to an officer (defined in Article VI of the LMSA charter) of the LMSA prior to the official vote.
Absentee ballots for voting will be mailed with the monthly newsletter
Voting on major issues will take place at the second monthly meeting after notice in the newsletter
Votes by members not in good standing, or not signed, will not be counted.
ARTICE XVI – OFFICER RESIGNATION
Upon notice of resignation, wither written or verbal, of an officer of the LMSA, the Commodore will appoint a replacement for the remainder of the term in office. The appointee must meet the concurrence of the remaining officers of the LMSA
Upon notice of resignation, either written or verbal, of the Commodore of the LMSA, the Vice-Commodore will assume the duties of Commodore, and then appoint a replacement for the position of Vice-Commodore per these regulations
It is the responsibility of the Commodore (Vice-Commodore) to verify the resignation of any officer prior to replacement
Article XVII – DUES
Membership dues are currently set at one hundred dollars ($100.00) per year for a full membership. Associate dues are set at fifty dollars ($50.00) per year. An associate member also can include members that are only part time residents, to Seminole County or counties contiguous to Seminole County, resident of counties not contiguous to Seminole County, initial membership, full time student and those under the age of twenty one (21). The recommended payment is for twelve months. Dues are payable in advance for the full year which begins January 1.
Any member not meeting financial obligations to the LMSA will have voting privileges suspended.
Any member whose voting privileges have been suspended must pay past dues plus minimum six (6) months in advance to regain voting status
Any member more than three (3) months in arrears will be dropped for the membership thus forfeiting all rights and privileges of a member in good standing of the LMSA.
The rights of members include, but are not limited to
- Voting
- Receipt of the monthly newsletter
- Participation in sailing and social activities organized and managed by the LMSA.
ARTICLE XVIII – YACHT RACING
Yacht races sponsored by the LMSA shall be governed by current rules of the IRC. In addition, the assigned race committee shall have the authority to modify or add regulations for the safety of the participants. The additional regulations, if any will be stated at the “skippers meeting” prior to the event and/or included in the Notice of Race for the event.
